Navigating Decisions in Times Like These

Lately, I've been reflecting a lot on decision-making—because nearly everyone I'm working with (leaders, teams, and whole organizations) is navigating some version of it right now. In this season of rapid change—socially, politically, and economically—many are realizing that their old ways of working simply aren't enough. The world has shifted, and they need to shift with it.
Some are meeting this moment with courage. They're acknowledging what's changed and preparing to fight for the world they still believe is possible. Others are moving more cautiously, trying to adapt quietly, stay afloat, or go "under the radar" so they can live to fight another day.
Both responses are deeply human. And both can be appropriate, depending on context. So here's what I often remind clients (and myself):
We don't have a crystal ball. So rather than obsessing over the “perfect” decision, the invitation to each of us is to make the next best step. What's “right” today may not be right tomorrow. What works for one person or organization may be all wrong for another.
In moments like this, I find clarity comes more easily when there's alignment between what I call the three Vs: Vision, Values, and your Inner Voice.
Vision: What's the big picture you're moving toward? Whether for your life, your work, or the world—what does that future look like? Which choice moves you closer to it?
Values: What truly matters to you? Does this decision reflect what you stand for—or does it pull you away from it?
Inner Voice: What is your intuition whispering (or shouting)? As Alice Walker reminds us, "In each of us, there is a little voice that knows exactly which way to go." When we learn to hear that voice above the noise of fear, doubt, or other people's opinions, we tend to find our way.
So this week, if you're sitting with a decision—big or small—I invite you to pause and ask yourself: Is this aligned with my Vision, Values, and Inner Voice?
And if you're finding it hard to access that clarity on your own, that's okay too. That's exactly where coaching can help. Whether you're facing a career crossroads or leading through complexity, I'd be honored to walk alongside you. If you're ready to explore coaching, reply to this email or book a free discovery call.
And remember, you don't need all the answers to move forward—just the courage to take the next right step.
